    Hi all,

    Well, have had recently some headaches with factory pressed discs;

    Like 99% of the people, I can't watch the discs as fast as I buy them, and yesterday I faced again an annoying problem, I put to watch latest Whitesnake DVD and it is defective, hangs out with pixealization, freezes in one of the songs.....checked in 3 different players;

    I remember I bought it more than 3 months ago, don't even remember from which dealer, don't have the legal receipt, bla, bla, bla, well, shame on me.

    But I wonder, is there a software that I could use to quickly scan through all new discs I buy and tell me in advance if there are factory problems ?

    Thanks for any information,

    Zetti

    Nero's CD/DVD Speed. It will show read errors or just freeze if it cannot read a bad sector at all.
    No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!

    Thanks, but would it read/check CSS encrypted DVD's ? AFAIK all Nero products don't hold factory pressed protected discs...

    Thanks again,

    Jtoolman,

    I have tried it on the Whitesnake DVD and, as expected, it froze halfway through the disc,

    Then I started checking other discs - all factory pressed - and, weirdly, all of them are 100% "bad"...only red dots on the screen......I'm using Nero CD-DVD speed 4.51.3..

    Would it be a protection issue ?

    Thanks,

    Zetti

    Shouldn't be a protection issue as the software is just reading the disc (as data).

    You could also try DVDinfo (Pro).

    Have you tried it in more than one pc? You could have a bad drive.
