Not really. You may be able to make a hybrid DVD or a DVD-SVCD by using this method: https://www.videohelp.com/svcddvdr.htm

But I use ConvertXToDVD to convert my SVCD's to DVD. A program made just for that purpose is SVCD2DVD.

Besides the video arrangement being different on a SVCD, the audio is 44kHz and that needs to be converted to 48KHz for the DVD standard. You can see the DVD standards to the upper left in 'What is' DVD. <<<<<<<

For MP3 audio, it is not part of the DVD format. You can burn it as a DVD data disc and if your player can accept that, should work fine.

And please, in the future, use a post title that reflects your subject. 'Just 2 questions' gives no indication of your subject and makes this thread impossible to search for. Please read our rules and change your title.

I second the use of SVCD2DVD. It's a great little All-In-One program for converting, authoring &
burning SVCD, AVI & .BIN files as DVD. Of course, many players will play the raw SVCD and AVI files either on CD or DVD.

I can play MP3s from DVD just fine in my Philips 642.

Be adventureous! Make a test disk on DVD-RW and see what you can do.

Yes, you can do both, burning a data DVD.

    Buy yourself SVCD2DVD.
It's an excellent piece of DVD authoring software, and it accepts non-standard MPEG files for authoring. Unlike other methods that exist, this one is very affordable, very easy to use, and has some qualities only found in high-end software.

Trial available, to give a test drive.

Nero re-encodes, bad idea. Data DVD is not going to play in a DVD player.
