DVD stops when I click on PLAY in menu.

Hi friends,
I got one DVD from my friend which is behaving weird to me.
First Menu srceen is coming well. When I click PLAY movie then its stopping. I tried by renaming BUP files IFO but no luck. But when I click on Chapters then it will display chapters and when I click on first chapter it will play the first chapter and then it will continue to end.
Any help to fix this? Thanks in advance.

Almost sounds to me like the Jump command behind the Play button is not quite right. You can check where it is pointing to in DVDRemake, or possibly even the free PGCEdit.

It's then relatively easy to point it in the right direction.

The simplistic explanation is that behind every button that does something is a command. In it's simplest form this is normally a jump, link or call command which simply tells the playback device to jump to a certain playlist (PGC) and optionally a particular cell within this PGC, or it may jump to another menu. There's also a host of more complex options, but these are the most simplistic.

So your Play button probably jumps to PGC 1, whereas the chapter buttons probably jump to PGC 1, cell x, where x is the chapter number.

So what you need to do is find out what the chapter 1 button command is, and then find out what the Play button command is, and then you should be able to work out why the Play button isn't working. You could also just make the Play button command the same as the Chapter 1 button command, and if there are other commands in place which make each chapter play sequentially, then the problem is solved.

Does the DVD exhibit this same behaviour on a settop DVD Play er and a PC, or is it just on one device and not the other ?

Thanks a lot for your detailed and patience reply. I really appreciate it. Yea its behaving the same on DVD player and on computer. I copied that on to pc and tried to play with the menu same behaviour. I have PGC edit with me. How can I change the PLAY button command as that of Chapter1 button command. I tried to go thru the help documents and I cannot figure it out what the PLAY button directs. Can you help me for that please?
