    hey ppl well i ve succesfully used the program AlltoAvi to convert everysingle .mkv file ive ever had and its always worked but just recently i tryed to convert one such file and well the program started saying there was to much of....something in the buffer(it was scrolling to fast for me to read it all) and then just crashed is this some new type of .mkv file that was made to stop converting? or am i just not up to speed with some new tools? ID LOVE THE HELP if you guys can give it THANKS!

    mkv can contain different video and audio codecs and not all tools like alltoavi supports all kind of codecs.

    what is the video and audio codec? try identify the mkv with mediainfo

    Is there anyway i can take a small picture of what comes up with that program so you can see it and gimme some idea of what im lookin for? Cuz some of that stuff just dont make sense to me THANKS!

    Well i think i found the Codec needed it says its Mpeg-4 AVC so if that helps at all id love it THANKS

    alltoavi is mencoder based though yeah? mencoder can decode AVC (via libavcodec).

    So are you saying that Alltoavi should convert the file with no problems?

    OR

    Are you saying i should download libavcodec and then it will work or what? im dyin for help here guys if you need me to find more info out about the file just tell me what you need and ill do my best to get you that info Thanks.
