    Hey everyone,

My boss wants me to install motion on my computer but I dont really have a lot of space that I want to be consumed by motion files. Is it possible to install the core of the program on my regular HD and then install all the other stuff (templates, tutorials, etc) on an external disc?

    Thanks in advanced.

  2. Yes...You should do custom install and install app only and then, with the help of little app named Pacifist you can extract all the other stuff from installer packages on any place on your HDD or on diff. hdd...Then, when you launch Motion, set up the location of Templates and Content under Preferences/General...

  4. Its VERY easy...Basicly you right-click on a .pkg /Package file/ and choose to open it in Pacifist...Thats all...Then that little app list all the things inside .pax.gz archive...There is also some freeware .pax.gz files unarchiver, so maybe you can try that also...As OpenUp for example..So, if you want to use that, right-click on .pkg file, choose "Show Package Contents" and navigate to /Contents/Archive.pax.gz...Then drop Archive.pax.gz onto OpenUp and it will decompress all the files inside...So you can put them wherever you want...

Forgot to mention one final thing...On Motion Install DVD, "Packages" folder are hidden...So right-click on "Install Motion Content" alias and choose "Show Original"...New win will popup and inside "Packages" folder you will find the things you want to install manually..MotionContent1.pkg and MotionContent2.pkg...So use one of the methods I described above for instalation...

Okay so apparently - if you go into the motion install program and "customize" you can choose to install the "motion content" where-ever you want. sadly it wont let me specify where to install the motion live fonts so I'm skipping them for now. perhaps someone knows how to install those on my external hd. Im going to try it now and see how it works!

  8. I believe the fonts will need to go into one of your font folders, in main library or user library. Geneally applications can see fonts elseware.
