    Hello guys,

I am looking for a software which will allow me to open a .DAT file, swap its left-right audio channels around and re-encode the file into .DAT again without loss of quality or significant differences in file size between the original and resulting file.

It would be preferable if the software is standalone ie: it does that without the need for using another software to seperate the audio channels first, etc. etc.

    Thanks guys,

    Warm Regards.
    cyclonite.

    no such software,
convert the dat to a mpg with vcdgear
open the mpg in goldwave and switch channels and save as wav
    convert to mpa/mp2 with ffmpeggui
add back the new audio with the old mpg with tmpgenc, file->mpeg tools->simple multiplex
make a new vcd from the mpg to create a new vcd with a dat file.

and I assume that you are talking about a dat from a vcd ....

If you just want to swap L/R channels, you could just exchange the RCA leads. Take it as a joke if you like, but it would solve the problem. I've done that for the connectors to my headphones, which are more comfortable worn backwards...

  4. I have a (very) simple program that will do that for WAV files.
