I am trying to author a dvd with a 30-50 second video clip as the background video on the main menu page. However all I can get is the audio and the still frame of the video file.
I go into the global menu settings and enable motion menu and audio. When I play the clip I can see and hear it in full motion in the preview window of the menu settings. However when I go to the simulation tab all I see is the still of the first frame of the video and the audio plays but no video.
Does 2.0 support a full video clip as the background on a menu? The video file is fully dvd ready, in fact its cut from the very tv show I have that I'm going to put on the dvd itself. Suggestions are welcome.
In the meantime I'm going to dust off Ulead Videostudio 8 se and see if it lets you do full video for a background menu. Thanks.
EDIT - For some reason I couldn't get ulead working but I tried my old copy of roxio dvd builder. It works! Sort of. I can easily put my mpg in the background and it will play. But in the preview its really slow so I'm not sure whats going on there. Plus I don't think I'm going to want roxio doing my authoring becuase it has just three settings and no option to not reencode if its already dvd format. Hmm.... still looking for good options here.

I don't have 2.0, but in 1.5 if you preview the clip and hit pause, it will only display the still frame, but full audio. But if you hit stop, it will play the video in the background.

Did you try creating the DVD folder and playing it back? v1.6 allows video backgrounds, so v2.0 should too. It's probably a limitation of the simulation.

I use TDA 1.5 ... and I have no problem including a video of my choice in the background of my menu [s] ... works great. Just make sure you include the correct amount of seconds to play the video for the menu ... in the background.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for all the suggestions.
After a little more fooling around I was able to get it to work in the preview.
I set it to the same time as the video - unfortunately its seconds only so you have to convert it if its over a minute - no biggie just an extra step. Then I made sure I enabled motion on the background picture only - I don't need the thumbnails moving usually.
Then in the preview screen (simulation tab) you have to click preview motion menus in order for you to see them.
So now I'm all set for my videoized menusThanks everyone.
