Been using the latest version of Super to convert Real movies to .avi (in order to use on a portable PMP).

However, sound is out of sync with video.

I am new to conversion and the Super tool.

Any suggestions or ways to approach this?

Supposedly, according to the SUPER FAQ and posts on their forum, sync issues are usually caused by picking a frame rate different than the one used in the original video. As far as I can recall, SUPER doesn't pick the proper frame rate accordingly - it just uses whatever it was set to in the past - so you'll have to know the input movie's frame rate and pick the same rate for your output.

I'm not sure about RealMedia formats... RealPlayer doesn't seem to provide info about framerates. If you're able to play RM and RMVB files in something else, such as mplayer, or Media Player Classic, you should be able to get more information about the videos there (including their framerate).

I don't know if any of the tools in VH's Tools section are able to get framerate information from a RealMedia file, unfortunately.

There is a real video shell extension (also availble as a standalone exe from recollection) written by I think Dark-Cracker (author of AutoRV10). It gives you the framerate, as an average though since rm files can be VFR. avi on the other hand must be CFR.
