    hey everyone,

i want to ask first, is it possible to fix certain subtitles in subtitleworkshop without
effecting the time of all the other subtitles in the file? cause ive tried all the options available
following the help file, but none will do it.

If its impossible, what other choises do i have?

    thanks.

fix/determine the time of where a specific subtitle begin and where it ends.
(without effeccting the times of other subtitle points in the same file)

Each subtitle is generally independent of all other subtitles, as they are usually tied to a specific frame or a specific time (begin/end). So your question makes no sense.

ok, ill try one last time.

when a subtitle file (srt/sub) of a certain movie is opened in subtitleworkshop, it is shown as hundreds of "points/numbers", right? each "point/number" has its own "show" & "hide" time.
for example, point number 43 starts at "00:00:52:92" and ends at "00:00:53:00".
the "points" represent the actual subtitle you see on the screen. so, with our example, point/subtitle number 43 will be shown for 8 secs.

what i want to be able to do is to move the specific point/subtitle a few seconds backwards so it will show earlier in the movie, or in other words, sync it with the movie audio.
everytime i tried changing the times of a specific point (in the "advanced adjust subtitle" menu) it would also change the time of previous points.

if that explanation wont do, ill start learning spanish.

If you are only going to change the timing of a few of the subs, I would not use the "advanced adjust subtitle" option at all. Select the sub you want to change and do the adjustment in one or more of the three little windows in the lower left corner: "show", "hide" and "duration". Click in the window you want to adjust and use the arrow buttons to change the time.

If you want to use the "advanced adjust subtitle" option anyway, read the manual for advice. From your description it looks like you have checked the "extrapolate" option. Choose "Return original time (no changes)" instead, that should do the trick.

I think I know what you're thinking. However, what you *think* adjust subtitle does is NOT what the program does.

To re-time a single subtitle, just click on that line and edit its start and duration directly.

That "adjust subtitle" function in Subtitle Workshop is for global changes, which includes interpolation.
