Authoring regarding links and used buttons

This is the problem.

I have a full movie with diferent topics.
I'v done a menu with 6 buttons that link to each of the 6 topics.
What I want to do is something like this:
when i press stop during the playback of the movie i want to highlight the button of the next topic.Ex: I pressed button1 to see topic 1 and when I hit stop the second button will be highlighted, and so on...
When there are several segments of movie I can do that , but with a single movie I just don't know how.

I would create a chapter playlist for each topic, then link to these. You can then set which button to go to after each one plays. I don't know of a way to do it simply from chapters.
