    From what I can find on google, you need to have a service remote to alter these players.

    "Panasonic players don't unlock with the remote, they never have." - I think that Technics 290 may be unlocked because I found this information:
    "Power on the dvd as normal no dvd's inserted. Then hold "stop" on the dvd player. While holding press the the numbers on the remote control to bring up different codes. One of these will reset to multi region if you press right the remote."

    The question is: What is the right code?
