  1. I bought a comet for my daughter a couple weeks ago and we are dying to go to the park and fly it, but in my area there has been a terrible weather lately, almost everyday thunderstorms and rain.

I would like to know how "safe" it is to fly a comet if it's not raining but the forecast says "isolated thunderstorms".

I know Ben Franklin got one with his comet, but since it was raining then, it was a different situation.

I just don't want to get zapped at the park

And don't say "Try it and let us know what happened"

You can fly a comet any other day, but if you are striken by a lightning ONCE, you won't be able to do it again.

Just let a few days pass, I know you are dying to fly it, but is it worth to die for it?

So from the context, I assume that a "Comet" is what I would call a "Kite"?

Well, Good news and Bad news.
The good news is that I have never met anyone that was killed by flying a kite in an electrical storm.
The bad news is I never met any person that had already been killed!

I think that the average lightning bolt is only like 75 million volts, but it may be different in your area (JK)

I have been close enough to a lightning strike to have dirt and plant fiber stuck in my teeth! I like to claim that I ain't afraid of dying, but for some reason I do tend to duck my head just a little when it is raining out. (Go figure)

Ever hear the phrase "You would stand a better chance of getting hit by lightning"? Or , "Don't fool with Mother Nature"
IS IT SUPPOSED TO SMOKE LIKE THAT?
