Is there a web-based program guide that will include episode titles??

I use titantv.com and I love it for programing my fusion hdtv.

It does a great job of naming the show for me.

HOWEVER I was wondering if there is a service that will not only put the show name but the episode title as well? Is there any one out there that does that? Preferably free??

But not sure if that's what your asking for.

Thanks but I think just shows it passively.

What I'd like is one that would automatically name the show with that shows episode name.

For example:

When I record Deep Space Nine titantv will program my fusion for me and it will name the mpg file DEEP SPACE NINE. But it doesn't include the episode name. So when I do a week of recording it will be DS9, DS9(1), DS9(2), etc....

I guess its asking for too much but it would be a great extra feature to an already cool feature of titantv. If anyone knows of a service that does that I'd be interested.

I know you're not asking for this, but its an alternative, really.

What you can do as a temporary means is just D/L the complete listing
of all the Series and be sure that they are all listed in Season and
Episode order.

Then, numericalize them, so that they are easy to find, based on episode
currently airing.

(you're right, you are asking for too much.. but then, so do I)

Well the best I could come up with is to simply look up the episode and rename the file the same day I record it.

Its a slow manual process but its the only way I can see to do it. But it works well. Unfortunately TITANTV only keeps the current days listings from midnight to present and then forward.

Fortunately YAHOO's tv guide goes back at least two days fyi.

Well, you could go to tvguide.com and first D/L the listing (they have one)
of all the episodes in chron order. Keep 'em on your hdd somewhere's.
This is what I've done, so far. So, that'll be your start, too.

Wait till you get a dvd recorder with a HDD in it. Then, it'll *really* be
slow, cause you'll be recoring *everything*. And, the process is quite slow
for each hdd->rw project. For my setup, it's approx 30 minutes for 1hr tv
program recording. That's w/out editing out any commercials.

Regarding editing out commercial..
So far, in my short experience with a hdd unit, the best use for this process
is for when you are running out of hdd space, and you need to scabage up some
space to record something (which is always important to you) in a hurry.
On my rig, the process for freeing up space (for when you don't have the time
to hdd->rw->pc ten to twenty to fifty or more videos on hdd) is something like
this:

A - review video(s) recorded listing
B - select *each* video to cut commercials out and free space
C - using SPLIT function
D - delete those new (commercial) pieces

Funny how having a hdd changes all everything

Some crazy ideas..
Right now, I'm imagining various ideas of rigging up my unit to accept a
special-made ribbon cable that run's through my unit's hdd and to some kind
of switch box that i'll invent maybe, and connect them somehow to my mobo,
and when I want to pop out a hdd, all I have to do is switch something around.
Then, dvd2avi whatever (no more smartripper) VOB's on hdd and encode away

But right now, they're just crazy thoughts..

Actually vhelp they have something like that I think for doing a hot format of xbox harddrives. You have to have the pc open and on and attach the harddrive to the computer. Then you do a live format of some kind.

That would probably be something similar to your idea. Just find a way to hack the harddrive and do a download to the pc. Shouldn't be too teribly hard - of course no more warranty

Well I finally got around to trying what I should have done in the first place. My fusion software allows me to manually type the name of the show I'm recording. So I've been laying out my recording schedule and manually typing the name of the show and the episode name. It works great Unfortuanately when I use the automatic programing with titantv I can't edit the title name.

So what I've done instead is use titantv to get the episode name and manually enter in the time and date of the show. Then I type in the full name of the show with the episode name.

It's more cumbersome then the auto program titantv allows but I can name each file with the episode name. Now I can go straight to dvd authoring after I capture the file. I don't have to go check which show it was and then rename the file. Sure that only takes a minute or so but this way by manually doing it first I don't have to do it after I record it. Makes it much quicker on the post side of things
