    Hi

Suzie gets married. The family video's it on VHS (PAL). Not all the family have video machines, so they ask me to convert it to DVD.

I capture the video using Pinacle Studio 9, VHS mode so no problems with frame-drop. Convert it to MPEG-2 with MainConcept, at a CBR of 6000 because it is short enough to fit on one disc.

Clean up, edit in Pinacle Studio 9 and "Make Movie". I then use TMPEG DVD Author to convert to DVD format and add chapers at 3 minutes intervals.

I then use Nero 7.0.0.0 to burn it to DVD-R. If I play it on my LG DVD-Video Combo there are no problems.

If Uncle Fred plays it there is a constant slight lip-sync problem. Is it me, the format, or his DVD-player?

    Thanks,
    Nigel

do you convert to mpeg and then use pinnacle again? it will cause another reencoding that may cause problems.

capture, clean up with pinnacle. output to dvavi. convert to mpeg2 with mainconcept and then author with tda.

That should shorten the working time.

Because I know the video will fit on 1 DVD the first time I encode I use a cbr, and then use the same cbr when re-doing in Pinnacle, which then just copies the bits that don't have cross-fades, so there is no re-encodong, just copying time.

It still does not solve my problem where my DVD plare has no lip-sync problems and others do.
