ok, i just got a new miniDV camcorder, im really interested in doing homemade edited videos. Heres the thing, i have hours of video on vhs that are losing quality, so im planning on transferring them to digital format for storage. i was just wondering whats the most effecient and cheapest means of storage. I've tried transferring the vhs tapes with my dv cam, but when i save them using videowave, for a file that is about 10 min. the size is 1.5gb. i was hoping there is a way that i could just save as much video time as possible on a regular cd-r for storage? any help on this?

That's about right for DV. I usually get around 12.5 GB/hr of video with Windows Movie Maker before converting to MPEG2.

okay thanks, so if i still plan on storing for future use what should i do? transfer the video from my DV cam, then split it up for storing on regular cd-r's? or is there some kind of compressing after i transfer it from my DV cam, so i can store more on cd-r's???
