In encoding to MPEG DVD how much of a speed advantage does TMPEGEncExpress offer over TMPEGEnc or TMPGEncPlus? I know it hangs on a number of things like speed of system etc., but given the same file, does the Express version offer a real advantage? Has anybody ever done a comparison of the encoders?

not that big difference but I haven't tested latest tmpgenc xpress 4...
if you want faster mpeg encoders test convertxtodvd or quenc or mainconcept mpeg encoder. -
Without having played with it extensively, I believe that the encoding engine is the same or similar as TMPGEnc and TMPGEnc Plus. The Express side of things is more to do with the setting up of the encodes with the wizard-based interface.
If in doubt, Google it. -
I have tmpgenc plus 2.5 and express 3 and both are comparable in speed. Express' noise filter has more options but can be set high and be much slower. Without the noise filter, it is very similiar, or maybe just faster.
I have used AviDemux using its lavc DVD and set the Quantizer setting to 2 and it is much faster and produces smaller mpeg files. Quality is very comparable. I highly recommend you try it. It is not for everyone, but has some wonderful features.
