  1. I downloaded several svcd's. All play fine, but one, Dracula 2000, goes out of synch whenever I try to fast forward or rewind. Any idea what would cause this? If it is a problem with the mpeg itself, can I extract it and repair it?

  2. What probably happened is the people that made the svcd's could have used the old bbmpg which causes sync problems when ff/rw. I really don't know if you could fix this. there might be a softare program out there that might extract the audio and video but i doubt it but then again i could easily be wrong. Let's hope there is one because with out that i think there isn't much that you could do.

    Surely one could de-mux (with TMPGEnc) and re-mux (with the better version of BBMPEG) the mpeg?

    Don't worry. I think we all get that at one time or another - missing the obvious

  6. By demux I am thinking you mean demultiplex? This is the option I see in tmpgenc. OR is bbmpeg better?

    @choxie

    What is better I don't know. It has however often been advised that you should de-mu(ltiple)x in TMPGEnc and
    mu(ltiplex)x in BBMPEG.

  8. I play SVCDs that I make myself using DVD2AVI and TMPGEnc, they play fine in my Pioneer DV-535, ff/rw, pause, etc, and even in the software DVD player WinDVD v 3.0. The only problem is when I play them in Media Player, the audio gets out of sync.
    I am very pleased with SVCD.

    In my cyberhome 212M, I've noticed that on (x)vcds, expecially those with many tracks, sometimes there are lipsynch problems.
    I use to grabb videoclips from music channels, so there are almost 21 - 24 tracks on my (x)VCDs (plus photos, sometimes that goes to 35-40 "tracks"!). That problem use to happen between tracks 9-15...
    I found a "solution" for this: When I see lypsynch, I pause the picture and then I play it. Then lipsynch is ok, for 4-5 tracks!
    The pause works like a reset in my case...
    Also, this problem happens only to non standard VCDs, like VCD with VBR mpeg 1.... Also I notice this problem with VBR SVCD...
    No problem at all with CBR VCDs and SVCDs!
    Maybe we miss something there...
