    i downloaded some video from youtube (stupid stuff ). it came out as files without extension, but i'm pretty sure it's some type of video files. I can still play it using VLC player. but when i try to load it into TMPGenc it won't take the file in. Is there a different way?

    Drop it into Gspot and see what kind of video it is. You could always try SUPER to convert it. It handles most formats. You can also check this thread for some general information and mentions of YouTube videos: https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?p=1538089#1538089
