A friend of mine posted this Q elsewhere and got no answers...
Just changed my old Samsung DVD burner for an NEC ND-4570A, which should read and write to DVD-RAM as well as all the others (including DL). I must admit it was a long shot, but I had really hoped that it would read the DVD-RAM discs burned on my JVC DR-M7, but it doesn't seem to like them.
It produces images that sometimes move slowly, but I haven't even heard any sound as yet, and I've tried 3 different brands of disc - Panasonic, Toshiba and Maxell. And it won't allow me to copy from the discs via Clone DVD either, as it can't read them clearly enough to do a copy.
It would be really handy if I could copy programmes recorded onto RAM discs via the PC. Any ideas on things to try to improve compatibility, or is it a non-starter?
Any DVD RAM gurus here?![]()

I have a Toshiba Toshiba SD-W2002 and I have no problems reading DVD-RAM disk recorded in a Panasonic DMR-ES10.
I have installed Nero InCD to facilitate reading UDF formatted media.
I also use TMPGEnc DVD author to read these disks. Read this post for more details: https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=269692
With Panasonic DVD reorders there are some recommendations to follow in order to get MPEG stream out or a recorded movie. Check this out: https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?p=1167134#1167134
Over there it is stated to set HYBRID VBR RESOLUTION to FIXED. maybe there is some similar setting for JVC recorders.
