Hello everybody.
I dont have one of this devices, so I dont know exactly how they work. And I havent found such information.
My doubts are the following:
Can I transfer a full DVD Disc to the HD of a DVD recorder and play it from the HD as if I was playing the DVD Disc directly, I mean changing chapters, languages, etc?
Can I have more than one DVD on the HD?
Do you know any recorder with HD with Karaoke function?
Thanks for your help and regards.

If you mean dvd recorder as in a settop unit the answer is 99.99% likely to be NO.
The dvds are locked to prevent just that thing from happening. You have to use a pc dvd drive to rip with dvdfabdecrypter or anydvd (fabdecrypter is free).
If its your own personal dvd you MAY be able to rip it to the harddrive of a dvd recorder. I don't know for sure. I have a liteon dvd recorder but it doesn't have a harddrive so I haven't fooled around with that kind of option.Donatello - The Shredder? Let te force be with you, Yoda.
In fact I used DVD Decrypter to make a test with a DVD disc, I managed to rip it to the hard disc of the PC, then double-clicking on different files, I could get the screen of the menus, but these didnt work. But if I open Power DVD and from the program I choose "select source" and then I choose "open dvd file on hard disk drive", automatically is open the screen with the menus and they work.
I have just this basic knwoledge son dont wait too much from me.
I dont know if the home dvd recorders (I dont know if this is what you call settop) work with folders, etc. My doubt is if I can in any way transfer this folder I have in the PC (or just from the Disc) with the files of the DVD disc to the recorder and play it from the recorder.
I dont know if it is possible to transfer files from the PC to the device, or if I had to copy the files ripped to a DVD-R and from here to the Recorder.
Of course I own the discs, in fact I have different movies for children and I dont want them handling the discs (they broke several) So I wonder if I can store them(around 20) in a device with HD and let the children play the movies without handling the discs.
Regards
