  1. I have the latest WinTV-PVR and captures Hi8 analoque video´s using the S-VHS and audio in on the card. It seems to capture just fine using the supplied SVCD template, however everytime I want to burn the captured video with the latest version of Nero it tells me the file is not compliant. If I re-encode with Nero the result are poor video quality (wors than the source) and the adio is not in sync..
I tried to use the TMPEnc (latest version also) but this reduces the file from 30 min.´s video to less than 10 min. still having unsatisfying quality of video and audio. My standalone DVD player is a Nintaus n9901. OS win98 SE.
Any good suggestions would be highly appreciated

  2. Hello bitter

I have the same Nintaus DVD player and uses the same OS as you.
When it comes to the A/V sync this player is very picky. It took me some tests and lurking in different forums to learn. I have total success when I multiplex with BBmpeg and use the DVD2SVCD settings (from the Doom9 site) I also have to start cutting >3 seconds in the movie. Voila ! Perfect sync.

About the quality: I get better then VHS quality on my captures from TV shows. You should be able have nearly the same quality as your original hi8 tape's.

About your last statement "I tried to use the TMPEnc (latest version also) but this reduces the file from 30 min.´s video to less than 10 min. " I don't understand. Can you elaborate ?

FYI I use some testversion of CCE 2.5 (hrmm) for the video and TMPG with Toolame as external MPII audiocompressor. And as I said above, BBMpeg for the in sync muxing. I burn with Nero.

  3. hi bitter,

I suggest you go to http://pvr.opcenter.de/
and read all you can about that card. I to have the wintv-pvr and there are a lot of problems with it. With a little luck and a lot of work, you can get the card good quality video.

I have to do a simple-mux to get the audio in sync, then
I just ignore nero's warning, and make the (s)vcd on a cdrw and test it out in my dvd player, if it works, then I burn it to a cdr.

    good luck!
