  2. Many authoring software add a dummy PBC structure on SVCD/VCD even if you don't need it (no menu...)
    Nero does it...
Many Pioneer DVD wont display time info when there is a PBC. I work around this problem by using a good authoring tool : VCDImager. This one doesn't had any PCB if you don't want to and it solves the problem for me.

  3. I just bought a DV-444 and I've got a similar problem.
The workaround I use is this :
Instead of pressing PLAY to start the VCD/SVCD, press 1 on the remote keypad (or any track number you want - track 1 will be the first videofile on the disk though!)

This forces the player into a basic playback mode (ie.non-PBC)

Gonna try VCDImager - got the URL anybody?

    Cheers,
    Sue xxx.

For PBC-less discs, follow the "Simple Multitrack" article on: http://www.geocities.com/medinotes/vcd

  5. This is how you get around it:
Press play and when the video starts playing press stop. Then press 1 and then Enter on the remote. It will come up on the screen "Play without PBC"

  6. I push the "1" key too. This way, the PCB message is replaced by the track number and the time.
