I have an .mpg file that that I want to frameserve using Avisynth (just a simple resize) and then I want to save it without having to re-encode the the whole .mpg. So far I can make a working .avs file that successfully frameserves my .mpg file in Windows Media player. I want to save this frameserved .mpg without re-encoding it. Please can somebody help.

    resizing requires reencoding.

The output from Avisynth is uncompressed and will need to be encoded by something. It is not possible to use AviSynth on a compressed source and not re-encode.

Hey thanks guys for your replies. I guess my question now is: Is there any way I could frameserve and re-encode my .mpg file WHILE retaining its quality AND size (+/- 10%)?? I tried to do this in TMPGEnc but it outputs a file that is three times the size!! I have tried lowering the bitrate in TMPGEnc but that severely worsened the quality of the output .mpg file (It is very important that size and quality of the output .mpg are approximately equal to the original .mpg file). Is this possible?? Please somebody help, I will pretty much try anything.

    Hi,

Here's a link with 5 guides for frameserving:

    https://www.videohelp.com/guides.php?tools=&madeby=&formatconversionselect=&howtoselect...or+List+Guides

There's a HOW TO section on the left of the screen <------

    Good luck.

EDIT - You still have to manage your bitrate to control the file size. Too large of a bitrate will put the filesize outside your desired range. TMPGENC allows you to strictly control your bitrate for your desired size.
