Buy a divx compatible dvd player and simply burn it as an avi file onto the dvdr. Then you'll be able to play it on the divx compatible dvd player without converting.
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

You would likely know if it's Divx compatible. Few US players are. For a list of Divx compatible players: http://www.divx.com/products/products.php

As an alternative, with some quality loss, you might look into a program like ConvertXToDVD. It can convert most AVIs, (Divx and Xvid and others) to a DVD player compatible format. It does take a while, and there are better methods if you want the highest quality, but the program is easy to use. There is also a freeware version still available with a few less features; DivXToDVD.

Or check the guides to the left and search for Divx to DVD conversions in 'CONVERT'. <<<<<<
If you are also converting PAL Divx to DVD, it gets a little more complicated.

How would your know???? You are really kidding right???

They would play!! Then you would know.

Serously man,,, The player specs will tell you. Just do a search for Divx DVD player and you will get lots of hits on Google. I sitll have my old Phillips 642 or whatever the # is and I use it once in a while to look at AVIs from tutorials. I assume you are looking at viewing moview?? Yeah, they will not look as good as the real original DVD but I assume you know that right?
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!
