  1. I happened to find a USB stick in a parking lot a few weeks back. I popped it into my computer to see if maybe there was something on it that would tell me whos it was and had no such luck. It says that its a 1 gig stick but when i pop it into my computer it recognizes it as 2 drives both F and G. The F drive has nothing but an icon for the SecureLock program while the G drive is only just over 400 MB and has about four of the owners files on it. Because i Dont have the password for it, is it useless? can you bypass the security? I already have a usb stick and dont really need another one but dont want to throw it out if its still good and dont know who the owner is. Its a Swissbit 1GB usbstick if that makes any difference. Thanks

Not so easy. You may be able to boot your computer with a program like Windows PE and access the drive. There are probably Linux solutions that may be able to do this also. I suspect you will have to attack it with a OS or setup other than XP and get into the drive VIA a backdoor. Have you went to the drive's site? They may have a program to get into the drive if it's password protected. It's unlikely you can recover the data, but you should be able to reformat the drive for you own use.

I've had to crack some encryptions on drives like that (with the owner's permission).

It is as simple as taking it to a different OS (Mac, in my case), reformat/wipe, then reformat on the PC.

    There's also the rootkit option.

Do the right thing first ... those file's may be important to the owner ... so be considerate .

Take it to nearest police station ... if after 30 day's it is not claimed ... you can claim it .

After that point , lookup manufacturer's info on device to unlock device or to reformat it .
