video and audio synchronization

I have an avi file with audio not synchonised with video.
I checked the file for errors with virtualdub and vdub-mp3 freeze but none were found.
I use TMPGENce plus to convert to DVD.
Can someone help me of how to fix this problem please?

I read the stickies my friend but all talk about bad frames found and how they are eliminated.something that I know how but I found nothing about audio not synchonised with video without any bad frames found.

MP3 VBR audio would be my first guess. The sync error usually shows up when encoding to MPEG.

If not, in the AVI is the sync error the same throughout the video or does it gradually get worse? The first case could be corrected by offsetting the audio to the video. The second one is usually when the audio and video are different lengths. This is commonly caused by corrupted audio or video. A combination of the two sync problems is fairly difficult to fix.

If all you saw was references to bad frames, then you read the wrong sticky.

Redwudz is correct, VBR audio is the most common cause of this issue, possibly second to a corrupted file.

Procedure is well documented, save audio as WAV and proceed.

As it is only in 2 channels I saved to wav through Virtualdub but when I encoded to mpeg it still remained the same.
In the avi file there is already loss of synchronisation which gets worser throughout the end of the movie.I never encountered this problem as when I had the same in other avi files bad frames where always found but none where found in this file.

It could also happen in your AVI if it previously had a bad framerate conversion, PAL<>NTSC or similar. If it gradually gets worse, then you would likely have to adjust the running time of the video or the audio.

In vdub right click the audio stream and select interleaving, leave the settings as they are but add -160 audio skew correction
Then got to video, frame rate, and select "change so that video and audio duration match. "

below that select frame rate conversion, convert to fps and type in 25 for pal or 29.97 for ntsc

I give it a try and let you know mate. Thanks for your help.
