Data DVD Burning Trouble. Help

Ok so i go to burn a bunch a stuff to a Data DVD yesterday, Using Nero (which i never have problems with.) The 1st disc came out fine. But the second would not burn. or the 3rd or the 4th. every time it got to near the end of the burning session it would fail. so i tried another program, Sonic, which my brother uses alot. that failed in the same spot. I restarted the computer after the 2nd disc and shut off all running processes that could. Still it failed.

I just bought new DVD-Rs. Memorex 16X discs. now the burning drive also burns at 16x. but i usually do 8x or 12x.
Could it be the new discs that are causing the trouble?
Any info will help.

yes....it's a start but cheap media seems to be the number 1 reason people have problems

These problems were on my brothers computer and he has a pretty new comp. and my comp is a lil older new but not brand new. I haven't tried a Data DVD on my comp yet but im gonna in a minute. I burned an actual DVD last night on my comp. and it worked fine with no problems.
