I made a compilation DVD of my fav music videos [20 of them to be exact] in an exact sequence. No matter which player I load them in they don't play back in the exact sequence in which the DVD was made and to make matters worse, not foreseeing this problem, I did not number the videos so I myself don't know the sequence of the videos, is there anything I can do now to correct this or is there a way for me to get the dvd to play back in the original sequence?

You would need to recreate the dvd.
Believing yourself to be secure only takes one cracker to dispel your belief. -
I used NeroUltra6 to create the dvd, I simply placed them in a specific order in Nero [just as I would do when burning a cd] and burnt the DVD thinking the files would play in the order in which they were burnt. Tell me this, if I were to create another DVD of the same files, is there a method I can use to have the files play back in order and if so, which software would I need, can I use Nero for this?

I don't use Nero. I used to, but found that aside form the burning engine, everything else was pretty second rate. Not everyone agrees, but each to their own.
Personally, I would use ConvertXtoDVD to do a quick job, or DVD Lab Pro to do a quality job. I don't believe Nero fits into either camp.Read my blog here.

Take a look at the dvd content ... if you see 1 gig vob's , then they are physically linked in wrong order .
Use dvd decrypter to rip dvd back to hd .
Open pgcedit ... load dvd from hd folder .
Depending on how it was authored ... you may (should have) .. single title ... double click it .
New window , should show list of cell's contained in title ... if you had 20 , then it will list 20 cell's .
Click the arrow box at end of cell info for playback window and confirm each is a single clip .
If ok ... close pgcedit .
Open vobedit ... load the first vob , choose demux , via cell id and "demux whole title" down below .
Demux to a new folder ... and wait .
In new folder will be your clip's ... each will be a seperate vob now .
You can now demux each of these to video and audio stream ...
What is name of first clip ? ... create a folder by name and demux this vob to this folder .
What is name of next clip ? ... repeat new folder by name and demux .
Do this till all clip's have been demuxed into named folder's .
From here you can reauthor with dvdauthorgui ... create menu's , link all correctly , make sure they are in the correct play order ... author to folder , test playback ... if error , fix by loading authored dvd in pgcedit a re-correct navigational problem ... save , retest playback ... if ok .
Delete the pgcedit backup folder , burn with imgtool's ... or
Create title folder ... my music (any name) ... under this folder is audio_ts and video_ts (contain's your data) .
Use folder2iso to generate iso from "my music" folder ... burn generated iso with dvd decrypter .
-----------------------------
If you followed my music dvd guide ... it would have been a simple method to rip dvd to hd , and edit nav commands in pgcedit , play test , and burn . -
Appreciate the advice here to edit the DVD but I will still need to know how to burn DVD's so they can play in a specific order for future purposes, any ideas?

Hi-
What makes you think that the burn has anything to do with the order in which they're played? It doesn't. That's why the suggestions are about redoing the navigation or reauthoring. -
oh, I had thought that in the same way you would burn a cd and the files would always be in the order in which they were burnt that this would be the same principle with DVD's, thanks for the tip, now I understand why it has to be ripped as an ISO. Any ideas how I can use Shrink to rip to ISO or can I use any burning software which can rips as ISO?

Looking over the thread briefly, I don't see anyone mentioning ISOs except as an intermediary step before burning to disc. Maybe they did. Maybe I missed it. You won't be able to make any changes to an ISO, though. Get the DVD files back on the hard drive in IFO, BUP, VOB format. If you can't just drag and drop in Windows, use DVD Decrypter in File Mode. Maybe you can use Shrink for the job. I wouldn't know as I don't use it.
