That's not bad for this new tech. I remember a single blank cd-r selling for $50. As a matter of fact, I think I still have it. That's probably why the company that I worked for went out of business. They'd buy them by the bushel.

It was £20 for a Sony at a dept. store but I've found TDK for £9.50 on-line.

That's quite reasonable considering that DL+R is still being sold for £5 ea in some PC stores.

Historically, the largest-capacity consumer media is usually very expensive. CD-Rs were fairly expensive till recordable DVDs came out and drove the CD-R price down. Then single-layer DVDs were quite expensive till DL came out and drove the single-layer price down. Now DL is coming down because BD & HD are the highest-capacity on the market. And when HVD or some other medium makes BD & HD obsolete in a few years, only then will BDs & HDs come down to something like $30 for 100-packs.

Meh big deal, all new formats are pretty expensive at first. I remember about 4 years ago, when a Good-quality 50-pack of SL DVD-Rs ran ya about $50-$60.

Now: a high-quality 50 pack of taiyo yuden, can be had for less than $20.
