  1. I recently got Nero (with the MPEG2 plugin) and I am trying to convert AVI files to SVCD (using Nero). The conversion works, but the sound of the movie is delayed by about two seconds (it's like watching a bad dubbed movie...the lips move, but nothing is said for a couple of seconds).

When I convert the AVI files using Nero's VCD format, the sound is fine, but the picture quality is worse.

    Any ideas?

Should I use another program to convert the AVI to MPEG2 first and then burn it to CD (like TMPG Enc) or is there another setting or plugin I should be using in Nero?

My machine isn't the best (PIII 500 with 384mb RAM), but I wouldn't think that would be the problem?

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!

I had the same problem with TMPG. I found that using CQ (constant quality) was the cause of my audio sync problems. Soon as I tried CBR (constant bit rate) I had no more sync problems.

I never had sync problems with Nero. Nero was a bit slower and the video quality was not as good. My problem with Nero is that several files I encoded with Nero the picture was upside and back-to-front!

Try using the default SVCD template with version 2.5 of TMPG.
