I'm having problems with any video clips that I capture. It needs to be in WMV format, however although the quality is good & it caputres & plays properly. The problem with the end file is that the slider can't be dragged.
For example, 1 is a 15min short movie. I can play the whole clp back from beginning to end properly. However if I start it up, I can't drag the slider to any point in te video that I want. If I try to drag it over to 2,3,10 mins etc, it simply snaps back to the current point that it's playing at. This means that in order to view a certain part of the clip, I need to watch it all the way through to the point.
So I was wondering is there any way to get this sorted out so that all captured vidoes can have the timers dragged to any pint in the video. Thanks James..

I think there has to be I-frames in there in order to do this. Sounds like you're missing them so the slider snaps back.
What are you using to cap?
Need more info...as much detail as possible.
wmv is good for the net but not much else -
If I remember correctly, WMV - like its 'predecessor,' ASF - has a flag to disable seeking. I'm not entirely sure how to correct this in WMVs, but you can try ASFTools.
Edit: Okay, so you can seek to a point. Have to learn how to read. But I believe ASFTools can also scan the video for errors, so that might help.

The program that I'm using is ZD Soft's Video Recorder to capture the file. It doesn't give you any options to configure codec or anything like that. So I was thinking of opening up the codec in VDub as there should probably be a way in that to sort it out, however don't have a clue of what to touch.
Here is a link to the program:

Here is a screen shot of the prog:

I've tested a few other progs out, but this is the only 1 that allows me to get the best capture. Some of the others have end results where everything is either in slow motion or out of synch etc.
I even done a search & got a media repair prog, installed the trial version but it didn't do squat to the end result. Exact same as before! -
If you are using WME, one of the utilities that comes with it is Windows Media File Editor. If you open your wmv file in that, you can save and index the file. It sounds as if the indexing got screwed up somehow. Hopefully, if you re-index the file it will solve your seek problem.
