  1. I don't know if this is where i should post this but here goes nothing.
I bought a few Seasons of "FRIENDS" on DVD. I wanted to copy them on a DVD Recordable. Now the thing is, when I checked the size of a single DVD (It's one full season of friends on one DVD, yes, about 25 episodes on one DVD) it was near 7 or 8 GB. When I asked Nero to copy the disk, it told me it won't fit. How do I copy the dvd on regular 4.7 GB Disc.
    Thanks.

DVDshrink can compress it. There will be some loss of quality

  3. Wow, 12 hours on one DVD the quality must already be poor to start with.

You got a lot more to read up on.

    DVDSHrink to fit it.

It will look like crap though

Do half or even one third per disk.

25 episodes of friends on one dvd seems like a overkill.

Is the season in DVD-Video format or some other video format like DivX/XviD.

  8. Legit?

    Can't be.

Just split the "retail" DVD in 2 and back up each half to its own DVD without further compression.

  10. well its DVD Video I guess because it plays perfectly fine on my DVD Player and no my dvd player does not support DivX. And yes the quality is already like a VCD. Ok, so even to preserve the quality if I burn the 7 GB disk on two DVD Recordables, I just have to copy the VOB files and drop em on a DVD Recordable? Will that do the trick or do I have to use some DVD splitting programme for that also?

  11. One easy way is to use VobBlanker. First "Blank" the episodes in the 2nd half and "Process" and then burn. Then go back and "Blank" the episodes in the first half, "Process" and burn.

When done, you might want to fix up the menu for each disc so you can't click on no longer existing episodes.

    No.

    Yes.

DVD-Video has a distinct structure as dictated by the IFO files. They contain info such as VTS sector numbers, PGCs, chapter stops, and so on. So you need a program that will gracefully seperate everything, otherwise your DVD player will more than likely just lock up when it goes to play something one of the IFOs tells it is there but due to your hacking is not there any more.

Try the "All Guides" section to your left - There's a number of guides to do splitting with DVDFab but I tend to agree with manono in that VOBBlanker is certainly one quick and easy way to achieve this. After blanking, episodes that you have removed will just play a black screen for a second or so, but if you were really keen you could use something like PGCEdit or DVD Remake Pro to redirect or replace these items with a "Insert Disc 2" screen (and vice-versa on disc 2). Or simply just remove the button functionality of said items altogether.
    If in doubt, Google it.

When you consider that each season of Friends was released as a boxed set with at least 4 discs per season according to Amazon.com, you have to wonder about your "source' disc. It cannot possibly be a commercial release.

Having said that, clearly the video quality has already been compromised to a considerable degree. You should not try any compression or reencoding to save space.

Either split it or simply dupe it to a DVD -/+ R DL. And the folks above have already reccomended excellent tools and links to help with splitting.

If it is a DL pressed disk just dupe it ISO read to ISO write with Decrypter to a DL disk.
    DONE!

It will be the same bad quality ( at least not worse ) as your original whatever its source.
