HELP! Problems with my Peekton home divX player.

I have a Peekton 6006 divX player which on the whole I am very pleased with however I am having two frustrating problems, who may or may not be down to owner incompetence!

Firstly, I seem to be unable to play Xvid files if they are larger than sat 600 meg in size. I get jumpy and sometimes still video whilst the audio is playing normally.

I'm no expert on video formats, so using AVIcodec I looked in detail at the file type I am trying to play. Can someone confirm to me if the PK 6006 is supposed to be able to play the following file:

File: 698 MB (698 MB), duration: 1:24:30, type: AVI, 1 audio stream(s), quality: 54 %
Video : 621 MB, 1028 Kbps, 25.0 fps, 608*336 (16:9), XVID = XVID Mpeg-4
Audio : 77 MB, 127 Kbps, 48000 Hz, 2 channels, 0x55 = MPEG Layer-3


My second problem is with upgrading the firmware. I have tried and tried to create a firmware CD (translating the French instructions as much as I can) but when I put the disc into my player is keeps coming up with "Cannot Read Disc".

I am creating the disk as follows:

Disc label: MEDIATEK and burnt it using ISO9660, Level 1, Mode1 and deselected JOLIET

Any help or newbie information at all would be most appreciated.

Seem's ok to me ... similar principal's applied ... only ?

"48000 Hz" should be 44100hz instead ... although I compress the audio using mpeg layer-3 , 48kbit/s , 24,000 hz , stereo , 6kb/s with all three xvid player's here ... no problem's .

The only cow's that give problem's is vbr video ... stupid nero stuff's them right up when converting to nero's mp4 format ... never a problem with cbr ...

As for your player model ... either keep looking for info on video conversion or create a few more using different technique's and hopefully you will get it playing without problem's .

When it come's french to english ... try this one : http://dictionary.reference.com/translate/text.html ... brilliant ... but no translation service's for dribble ... that's a completely foriegn language ... unless you have any 2 year old's about ... lol

As for the firmware problem , if you followed the specific instruction's on how to create the disc ... then there are other thing's that can cause problem's .

1: Cd-r or cd-rw only ... if you have followed there instruction's ... then it can be media the unit dosent like ... which could be the issue you have been having with playback problem's ... though I really think it's the wrong frequency you are using .

2: I noticed no burn speed ... stupid error on there behalf ... 4x only ... 2x burn should be best ... I use 2x without problem's .

3: If this fail's ... fall back and use dvd-r ... I know it's a bit of waste ... but try it ... if it fail's , then the unit itself has issue's .

Try remultiplexing the AVI file with VirtualDub.

File -> Open Video File
Video -> Direct Stream Copy
File -> Save as AVI.

That may be enough to fix the jerky picture problem.
