i have setup my home network a few times and a few friends ones so i know what i am doing and how to do it all. but this latest time ive set it up dialup modem on main pc with that pc and others connected to a network hub. i setup the main one for home network and sharing its internet. i setup the others for home network. they will all see shared files on each other but only one (apart from the main pc that dials into the internet) will actually browse the internet. the other 2 will see thew sharde files on all pc's even the main pc but will not browse the net. i get an internet explorer page like when not connected to the net.....

Start with the blindingly obvious, I guess ......

The main computer is switched on, right ?

    OK, enough jokes.

Are you trying to make it so that the main PC must initiate the dialup connection and then a guest can use that connection, or are you trying to make the guest able to initiate the dialup connection directly ?

Dunno whether this helps, but when I had my cable modem into my main PC, I ran the network setup wizard and specified that it was the host for internet. I then ran the network setup wizard on my other PCs and selected the option to use another computer for internet. It then detected the shared internet connection from the main computer.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Get rid of Norton altogether, I say

I can personally recommend AVG, and Avast is also highly rated as far as free solutions go.
    If in doubt, Google it.

NAV 2006 has it's own 'networking wizard' you can run to make it easier if you want to use it.

    I am just an imbecil
