how can i get a word written out. For instance, i put a video of my name being written just before the main video appears.

please someone help me on this one

I've seen it done using something like Illustrator. The signature is scanned and then placed into a layer. In another layer (with translucency turned on), the signature is traced with a bezier tool. Then the file is a exported as a jpeg. This is the ending shot. The bezier is the shortened, a bit at a time, and the file is exported as a jpeg once again. This process is repeated over and over until the bezier is now only the starting point.

You now have a series of jpegs that, if they were printed and collated (in reverse) as a "flip-book", would show the effect you want.

Import each jpeg into something like iMovie or Final Cut (or whatever video editing app you might use on a PC), calculate the length of time you want this effect to appear, divide that by the number of shots you imported, set each shot to that individual time, and set a cross-dissolve between each shot. Export as MPEG2 with whatever audio background you want.

There are other ways of doing this, as well. Perhaps others will chime in soon.

The cheap and tedious way;

1. Download a free script font and open up microsoft paint.
2. Create a solid background and place your message in the center.
3. Erase a little at a time and save each change to a numbered sequence.
4. Reverse the numbering and then load the first file into Virtualdub (it should pickup the rest unless there is a gap in the numbering).
5. Change the framerate to 29.97 fps (or 25 fps depending on where you live).
6. Save as *.AVI and label as "Intro".
7. Encode with your favorite MPEG2 encoder.

8. (optional) Go on shooting spree if sanity is lost completeing steps 1 through 7.

this guy uses adobe premier n photoshop to do it. What he was doing in photoshop i guess i can get done in macromedia fireworks. However, what he did in premier i don't think i could do that in vegas. Can someone help me out?
