I have succesfully made VCD with the guides in this pages. I use Nero 5.5.3.5 to burn but when I make SVCD I can't get them to fast forward or rewind in my stand alone DVD player. It works well with VCD. I am missing something?
Thank you in advance.

I had the same problem in my Panasonic A-310..
VCD's worked great.....SVCD's did not..
So..I found out that encoded at 480x480 with no-interlacing..
No fields first instead of top or bottom.....
and all is well......
your DVD might be different, but I hear that this tip works on alot of DVD's !

I have the newest Nero and it still does it. I now use one of the Author software to do the job, and forward/rewind works now. My favorite is Ulead DVD factory, it's extremely easy to do, perfect for beginners like me. Try that instead.

What the latest advise to assure Nero is not going to screw with the FF/RW? Is the latest version of Nero working 100% of the time??? My present version of Nero is 5.5.4 and I think it's giving me problems with FF/RW. What was that file again that you can drag into nero to assure this problem doesn't happen???
Also, If I opt to use another program like Ulead Movie Factory to burn (and add menues while I'm at it), how much additional room does Menues and maybe a background menu sound file take up?? -
I used to have the same problem when making SVCDs using nero. What I did to solve the problem is use VCDImager or TSCV to make you cue/bin files. Then burn with Nero.

If you have Nero 5.5.6.4 or later this step is not necessary.
To be able fast forward/rewind the SVCD on your standalone DVD-Player you mustownload this scandata.dat (right click on the link and select Save Target as to download it, it is just a very small textfile). Then add/drag the scandata.dat to the EXT folder of the SVCD.
Hope that helps. :P
