my Goal: to make sure EVERYONE, even people with not much computer experience, can Install and Use the necessary tools for backing up a DVD movie.

I have created this simple Easy installer a year ago for the Dutch people.
Suprisingly, it was very much appreciated. Now the Startmenu shortcuts will be created correctly, no matter what language Windows is using. Therefore I decided to go international

    DVD-ReBuilder Easy Installer, 12/2006
    - A One-Click Installer -
All you need to backup a DVD movie easily
    _______________________________

    Will install:
    • DVDfab Decrypter
    • DVD-ReBuilder Free
    • AviSynth
    • HC Encoder

All settings in DVD-ReBuilder will be set, the user doesn't have to do anything anymore, just press the button.

The Installer can be used for Silent install as well...
After install, a very Easy Guide will be shown, the user can start immediately.

    I've created a simple website, http://dvd.yardcure.com
For problems or comments, this thread can be used. Dutch people can use the Dutch forum.

Meh thats only "good" for the dolts out there who are Pc illiterate and stuff.

Does this "one-touch DVD copy" thingy know automatically to forget about excess crap that consume valueble compression space like trailors, ads, foreign language tracks, and worthless "Extras/Special features"? No thanks.

When i backup something it only includes what i want it too and ZERO excess crap on the side, for the least compression and best quality.

actually many people in the Dutch topic that use DVD-ReBuilder use this installer not because they are pc illiterate, but just because it saves time.
for what you want you can also use this installer + something like Ifo edit or PGC Edit or use the dvdshrink-reauthor mode without recompressing to remove the trailers before you use DVD-rebuilder to rebuild/ re-encode.

You are correct, removing trailers and logo's saves space ofcourse.. it's a little more advanced and I didn't include a tool to do it (I am considering adding PGC Edit and expanding the EasyGuide to explain it) but anyone who wants to remove trailers and stuff sure has time to find a nice tool and can use it easily with this installer.

btw DVD-ReBuilder Pro can also easily exclude trailers and stuff but it isn't free.

  5. Hi-

I just backed up my first movie and all went well except for the volume. When playing the backed up copy, I have to turn the volume up 50% to get the same sound as the original. Am I doing something wrong or is there an adjustment somewhere?

    Thanks,
    Mark

I don't think this has to do with dvdrebuilder... not sure but you probably removed the stereo sound... leaving only the 5.1 Dolby Digital or DTS... wich means if you play back it will always be 5.1 and if you only have 2 speakers you don't get all the sound.

  12. What do you care about this guy's installer anyway? There's already a very good one available, and it's sanctioned by jdobbs:

    http://dvd-rb.dvd2go.org/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=14

Surely you can install AviSynth and your decrypter of choice on your own?

Well he (and thousands of others) cares because this is a WAY more simple installer, and everything is preconfigured. With the original installer (wich has improved compared to a year ago) you still need to setup stuff after installation process.

Also, this is a complete solution for the back up of DVD movies, it also contains DVDfab decrypter.

I didn't had time nor motivation to update since I actually rarely backup DVD movies. But since so many people downloaded it I decided to do the update.
Let me know if it works for you! (or if it doesn't work as you might hoped).
    Enjoy!

I like indeed the preconfigured settings, I could do it myself after hours of research, I prefer this. It simply works perfect, thanks again zilexa!

Just a note, when I installed to my D: drive, it gave me an encoder error. Looks like the HC encoder directory is hardcoded to C:.
When I copied the HC encoder (including full path) from the D: installation to my C: drive, it worked fine.

If you want to have a little better forum support, I'd just go with manono's link to the installer provided at Doom9 forum.
