  1. I use avi2vcd to convert to mpeg then VCDImagerGUI to make bin/cue then Cdrwin to burn actual VCD.
The problem occurs when i converting to mpeg, made many a coasters in this process.
The Conversion makes the video portion into stills but the audio works fine. Thought it was the bin/cue convertor, but have had some success with some avi's,narrowed it down to the mpeg convertor. Is there a better convertor or program that can stop this process.

  2. Use TMPGEnc (not the fastest, but free) or a commercial encoder. AVI2VCD is REALLY slow, even slower than TMPGEnc and seems to be not very reliable as you report.

But keep the Decompress.exe from the AVI2VCD package. Sometimes TMPGEnc doesn't like compressed audio. Decompress.exe is very helpful in such a case. It decompresses the audio to PCM and you get a new AVI which can be converted with TMPGEnc.

  3. Ooops, Cheewy was faster...

    But I think www.tmpgenc.net/ is more up-to-date.

v2.50 is currently only available there.

  5. Can someone help me, please?
I have a Canon Powershot S110 that capture movies in avi format, but they can be played only on quick time 3 or higher. I can´t convert them to mpeg, even with TMPGEnc.
There is a movie sample on http://www.steves-digicams.com/2001_reviews/s110_pg3.html
I hope someone can help me, thanks.

MARCOPOLORIVERA: you need a mjpg codec. Huffyuv is freeware and will moast likely work for you.

Huffyuv is NOT an mjpeg codec.

Download the Pegasus mjpeg codec from http://www.picvideo.com instead.

Huffyuv is an efficient lossless codec which is especially useful for high quality capturing.

    Cheers
