    Hello

    I'm a kind of new.

I usually make dvd movies from my dv tapes afer editig them in my PC. However the best i can do is create mpeg2 movies.

In some cases i'd prefer to creat final movies with a little bit more of quality.

How can i do that? Is there any freeware for that?

    Thanks!

Well, since DVD video is mpeg2, there's not that many alternatives if you want to create a Video DVD...
For computer playback - keep it DV AVI.

You keep the DV-AVI on tape, HDD or data DVD as your master. Future* encoders and players will absorb the quality. High bitrate VC-1 will handle DV without deinterlace.

    * give these new technologies time to mature.
