I have my coaxile cable going into this new "TV CAPTURE CARD" i bought...though having no sound is only one of my problems.. i have previosly been using a dazzle.. i picked up this thing here for 20 bucks.. seems ok... (See photo below) my whole reason for getting this really was so i could capture 720x480 ... now i did yseterday (still with no sound) but the video was really slow.. almost like slow motion..

any idea on the sound issue?

Have you gone to the Recording properties and selected the correct recording source ? on all my cards Ive put the audio cables in to the soundcard and recorded off that - ie Line In .

The slow video ? um .. I dont know if that card uses a codec to record live , it might be giving problems on playback , Im assuming its an avi ? it might be the video source is not set correctly , if theres a setup option to it , check the correct source ie ntsc and frequency etc , and check the output files to check they have the correct fps , size etc .The problem might be linked to the sound , if the playback is linked to the sound , Ive had video problems in the past caused by my soundcard (lots of swearing etc) . Just a couple of ideas anyway .

well i havent done the line in thing cuz it should record the audio just from having the coaxial cable connected directly. i can watch it on my screen .. great quality. i might have to go the route and use a cable for audio and line in

as far as the slowness.. yeah it was in AVI.. big fuckin file too...shit was 1.6 gb for a 1 min file.. all i want to get record in MPEG-2 format w/ 720x480 format so i can create dvds ..

    thanks for the reply

The video prob will be that your pc can`t process that amount of data of uncompressed data fast enough so it just plays it slow , if you are recording in avi (or have to) set it up to record with a lossless codec (HuffyUV there are others , but that springs straight to mind) . The recording straight to mpg2 will depend on what software came with it , but there are programs out there that allow you to do it - depending on your hardware , my ATi did , but my Pinnacle was locked to the software that came with it (but it would cap in mpg so it wasnt a prolem) .
