  1. Hi everyone,

I have one of those Sony miniDVD based camcorders, since it does not have digital output, I normally rip the disk and edit the VOB files with my softwares. However, I have this one disk that apparently has some error on it:

    - it plays fine using standalone DVD player or my PC's InterDVD software
    - when I tried to rip hte disc, this last VOB file cannot be ripped, tried two different DVD readers, both will fail at the same point
    - when I tried to copy the file directly using Windows (this is possible since the VOBs on home made movie is not encrypted), I got an CRC error.

Is there some tool that'll allow me to either copy the VOB file or rip the file off the disc, since I can still play the disc, it should be still readable, why can't I copy it off the disc?

Any info/help is appreciated. Thank you!

Try dvd decrypter. Its an older ripper but since its homemade you don't need the latest in decryption. If you want one single vob to work with go to mode and select ifo. Then go to tools, settings and select file mode and set file splitting to none. Then choose the ifo mode tab (also in the tools-settings option menu). Select file splitting and select none. Then it can rip the entire dvd to one vob file.

If you still can't rip it with decrypter then it may be a damaged dvd and that portion may not be recoverable. You could try cleaning it and see if that helps.

  3. I tried DVDFad Decrypter, which is the replacement for DVD Decrypter, it's a nice easy to use little program but it worked!! It doesn't have a lot of options but it simply copied the whole disk to my HD, which is all I wanted.

With the other ripping program I was using (CladDVD XP), it only copied 3 of 4 VOB files...

Thank you so much for pointing me to the right direction.
