Hi to all
I have a few questions about this card, Having done a bit of research for some weeks now, I've come to the conclusion that this is one of the best quality capture cards there is based upon the reviews i've read, So i have a few questions to ask.
1) Do i need a firewire PCI card for this to work.
2) If so what cable do i need to connect the ADVC 50 to PCI firwire card.
3) Can i use the ADVC 50 to capture from sky tv.
4) Does the ADVC 50 capture in any other format besides DV AVI.
5) What format audio does it capture to (example) 48kHz pcm wav.
6) Can use capture software like iuVCR, VirtualVCR, Virtualdub with this card.
I want to make sure i have everything covered, Has i have the tendancy of buying something and finding out it hasen't got what i wanted or i have to end up buying something extra for that specific thing.
Thanks in advance.

Hi.
I have one of these cards along with the ADVC-300. It is a good inexpensive card for capturing quality DV. So, to answer your questions...
1) Do i need a firewire PCI card for this to work.
Yes - it has IEEE 1394 output.
2) If so what cable do i need to connect the ADVC 50 to PCI firwire card.
You need a 4 to 6 pin cable depending on your firewire card.
3) Can i use the ADVC 50 to capture from sky tv.
I suppose - as long as you have composite inputs it shouldn't matter.
4) Does the ADVC 50 capture in any other format besides DV AVI.
Nope - it compresses with a DV codec before streaming.
5) What format audio does it capture to (example) 48kHz pcm wav.
It is uncompress audio (PCM WAV) - I think it is 48KHz - check the web site.
6) Can use capture software like iuVCR, VirtualVCR, Virtualdub with this card.
I believe so - make sure you turn off device control. I use Scenalyzer with device control off and it works great.
I hope I have answered your questions.

Cheers for the reply
So i take it firewire PCI cards come in 4pin and 6pin?, And that the ADVC 50 is a 6pin connector.
Also can you use software to scan for tv channels and store them, Like a tv tuner card or can you only record what channel your watching on your tv.
