Conexant 2388 is not on list of approved capture devices for sony vegas , Vegas is designed to work with DV (firewire), HDV, Blackmagic and stand alone firewire based transfer devices"Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650)
You will need to capture your VHS tapes with another application and then import the captured avi into Sony Vegas Movie Studio. A few recommendations would be virtualdub or virtualvcr.
It may be possible, if you have a camcorder with the capability, to use the passthrough function. Hook your vcr to your camcorder and camcorder via firewire to your computer.
