Buttons from the Menu: how to activate them, using the remote jog shuttle?

Hi, you guys! I'm using dvd Maestro to author my dvd's for years, but i still don't know how to make the buttons (dumb me, it's because if something works well for me, i don't change a thing... i'm using a "routine", a guide to author dvd's, made by a friend, and this works fine for me, huh, 99% of the time), from the menus, to be activated/manipulated by the dvd players remote control "jog shuttle": Example: If i make a menu with five buttons or so, the jog shuttle(generally, there is a button on the center, to activate the choosen function/feature, surrounded by 4 other buttons: up, down, left, and right, so we can choose what we want) from the remote control, dosen't even activate the buttons from the menus, BUT, if i use the numbers buttons, if i press number 1, will activate the button 1 from the menu, if i press the button number 2, it will activate the button 2 from the menu, and so on. I wish i could make the jog shuttle from the remotes, to choose the buttons from the menus, but nada, if i press left, or right, of up, or down, it dosen't do nothing(i don't mind if BOTH numbers buttons and jog shuttle ones, can work togheter... as many ways to manipule the buttons from the menus, the better) What is missing? There is someting that i have to do on the authoring, right? Please, someone can help? I've found a guide here, using dvd Maestro, but i've tried to folow the steps from the "making the menu" part, and still nothing.

Ah, by the way, i dosen't know if the right name from those "up, down, left, right, surrounding a enter button", are really called "jog shuttle". Sorry if not. I just checked my vcr remote, and, his jog shuttle, is diferent, it's a circle, and only manipulate vídeo, and nada from the menus of the vcr.
