The 5005x can not be hacked as such ---But

    My question would be
Is rhe 5005xs the same as the 5005x and will the conversion files work

The 5005x can be converted to a ilo R04, which in my opinion is basicly the same as a 5005, but has No AllWrite. When converted thus The unit can be "hacked as a R04 and burn any + disc or program played to it. A return to a 5005x is easy

I also have 2 ilo RHD04 units. I use th R04 primarily as a 5005x to burn a -CD or a -DVD when necessary.

If an only unit, I would prefer the 5005 for its features. providing the unit can be "hacked" Because of the conversion files this site, ---http://ncc2315.com/ilo/
    the 5005x serves both worlds.

    PS
I would recommend a unit with HDD if possible

I'm unsure what's meant by 5005x and 5005xs nomenclature. I might deduce 5005x would mean 5005 with a single letter after it while 5005xs would mean 5005 with 2 letters after it. Is this correct? If that is correct, why not just call NewEgg to see if they have any more of the "LVW-5005 R" in my last 6/23 post which should be hackable as was mine with conversion files at http://ncc2315.com/ilo/ , and order one if they do have more of them? Disregard this suggestion if I missinterpet what's meant by above nomenclature.

The LiteOn 5005x is a rebaged ILO R04 And it looks just like the R04. It has different firmware and has AllWrite but can-not be hacked

The LVW 5005 Is a LiteOn unit and looks as a LiteOn, it may have some letters after it but should not have an x.

The mention of the 5005xs is what prompted me to ask If it might be a variant Of the 5005x If it were a LVW 5005 I doubt that it would have an x in the model no.

I think BCdave, was looking for a LVW5005 that could be hacked

Remember that a 5005x can be converted to a ilo R04 and hacked as a 04 [No AllWrite]

You are correct in that one should check on any unit to be sure it can be hacked. But on another thread it was mentioned that A TBC, in a range of some that $300, will remove all CP including a flag. I will check this out. If you or any others have info on this ,Please pass it on.
I should think that such a TBC would enable any recorder to defeat any CP.
