Creating Batch List to import into FCP

Okay, so many moons ago I remember making a batch list in Excel to import into Premiere or something like that.

I'm logging all this footage of a friends trip and am creating it in Excel, however I remember before that doing so and importing into FCP won't do squat.

Is there a way that I can log everything in an external program, import the file into FCP and then just let it run and do the batch capture? Do i need an XML program or what?

If someone could help out that'd be great. I really do not want to have to do the whole process twice.

You can import the list into FCP, but you have to save it as a tab-delimited file. You must also use the exact same headings as FCP's browser column heads.
