    i willl be backing up a .iso file to my pc, if i put it on my ibook is there a virtual drive like Daemon tools that will play it?

    will this let me mount a iso image as if it was a cd without actually having to put the cd in? also is there anything like this but free

    This is built into Mac OS X - just open the image and it will mount in the Finder. Toast is not needed. You can also use Disk Utility.app to create image files.

    Opening the ISO image as stated works 99% of the time. I have encountered some (poorly crafted?) ISO images that will not mount but may be burned to disc. At that point (once burned and then the disc inserted, recognized by the Finder, and mounted on the Desktop), Disk Utility may re-image them, so to speak, so the new image file will mount in the Desktop when double-clicked.

    Free is good.
