    Is there a software to compress recorded DVR shows to a 700MB CD, eg. the option of a nightly compression task which converts DVR to divx?

    Google your DVR model number and find out how it stores the files and in what format. You should also be able to find advice on how to hook it up to your PC to be able to transfer stuff.

    How to proceed after that really depends on how it stores the files.
