our organization received a copy of a local newscast about a function we held.....we want to upload the video to our website, so i've ventured into this new world of converting video files! my problem:

the DVD contains the following .VOB files:
    VTS_01_1.VOB
    VTS_02_0.VOB
    VTS_02_1.VOB

    and the following .IFO files:
    VIDEO_TS.IFO
    VTS_01_0.IFO
    VTS_02_0.IFO

(and there are some files with the extension .BUP also, matching the filenames of the .IFO files)

i have tried using ffmpegx on my mac at home, as well as Xilisoft DVD Ripper on my PC at work, and in both cases, i only get two files importing, one of which has 30 seconds of the video (and missing the most important part - the interview with one of our members!!), and the other is just a still image of the title.

am i doing something wrong? how do i get the whole video to import? is it something about the way it's saved? how do i find out?

TIA for any help, and forgive my ignorance - i'll happily provide any further details needed, but since i'm new to this, and really don't know what i'm doing!!

The VOB files are the video components - the VTS_xx_0.VOB files are menus. There must be two titles on this disc. There's a number of ways you can get the video off - VOB2MPG will "convert" each title back to an MPEG file, which you should then be able to load into any other conversion software. Another method is to rip in IFO mode using DVDDecrypter, and then you can load the VOB file it creates into your conversion software.

What format/codec would you like to end up with ?
    If in doubt, Google it.
