  2. The frame must be 720x480 NTSC, or 720x576 PAL.

  3. I only used Panasonic DV only for decoding. I never used it
    for encoding. And I do not know if it can be used for encoding.
    For encoding, I always use PicVideo codec. Check your system
    if it is there. I have Pinnacle Studio 9 and it includes PicVideo
    codec.

    The Panasonic DV codec can be used for decoding and encoding. But DV has a fixed format. If your video does not meet that format, you will get that error when decoding or encoding. If you are compliant, then you have another problem.

  5. Yes, just tried it and it can be used for encoding.
    Never used it before.

    Actually, my input video is 1080i mpg from HDTV.
    I down size it to 720x480i at 29.97fps. You can
    try the following using virtualdub to see if it
    works or not.

    video->filter->resize->720x480i
    video->frame rate->29.97fps
    video->compression->Panasonic DV
    file->save avi

    The panasonic DV codec can sometimes hijack other codecs, such as Div3, and try to playback material that has the wrong resolution. I have used the FFDShow VFW codecs to steal playback from the Panasonic codec as required.
